Sports Health & Fitness

The Sports, Health, and Fitness program provides comprehensive training in exercise science, nutrition, injury prevention, and rehabilitation over a two-year, four-course curriculum where students can earn industry-recognized credentials. Students develop expertise in fitness assessments, exercise physiology, athletic training, and designing personalized wellness plans.

The curriculum covers nutrition principles, components of fitness, the relationship between nutrition/fitness and injury prevention. Students learn to evaluate an individual's nutritional state, calculate calorie burn rates, and recommend ideal diets and exercise regimens. They administer fitness tests evaluating cardiovascular endurance, body composition, flexibility, strength, power and design individualized training programs. The athletic injuries course focuses on emergency procedures, injury evaluation, prevention techniques, conditioning, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. The exercise physiology course examines the body's acute and chronic responses to exercise, pre-screening for risk factors, exercise testing protocols, and developing comprehensive conditioning programs based on assessments.
