Pre-Nursing | STNA

two students in a nursing room practicing on a fake patient

The pre-nursing program provides a comprehensive foundation for students interested in nursing and allied health careers. Over a two-year, four-course curriculum, students can earn industry-recognized credentials as they develop essential knowledge and skills for quality patient care.

The curriculum covers key topics such as patient-centered care principles, clinical laboratory procedures, anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, and lifespan development. Students learn vital signs, body mechanics, infection control, personal care skills, and basic nursing procedures. They practice clinical laboratory techniques like phlebotomy, specimen collection, and laboratory safety/quality control. Other courses introduce the allied health professions, ethical/legal responsibilities, and cultural competence, and examine the continuum of healthcare across the human lifespan. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience in skills labs and have opportunities for clinical observations, building their readiness for further nursing education and healthcare careers.
