Engineering Design
The Engineering Design program provides comprehensive training in engineering principles and processes over a two-year, four-course curriculum where students can earn industry-recognized credentials. Students develop technical skills in 2D and 3D modeling, robotics programming, computer-integrated manufacturing, and digital electronics.
The core engineering design course covers the full engineering design process - work processes, optimization methods, design optimization, and risk management tools. Students use modeling software to design solutions to proposed problems, create working drawings from functional models, and document their work. The robotics course focuses on programming robots using teaching pendants and robotic coding languages. In computer-integrated manufacturing, students explore robotics, automation, manufacturing processes, computer modeling, equipment, and flexible systems. Finally, the digital electronics course introduces combinational and sequential logic design for processing and transmitting data represented by discrete voltage sequences. Throughout, students apply engineering standards, technical documentation methods, and emphasis is placed on experimental problem-solving for real systems.
