Architectural Design

Man and teenage boy standing under under construction home

The Architectural Design program offers comprehensive training over a two-year, four-course curriculum where students can earn industry-recognized credentials. The program covers all facets of architectural design, documentation, and construction - from sketching concepts and CAD drafting to developing structural framing plans, mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems, and interior design. A capstone project challenges students to apply their skills by fully designing and constructing a functioning tiny house from the ground up.

Students gain expertise in creating technical drawings, renderings, and construction documents like floor plans, elevations, and details. They learn to design mechanical systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting layouts. Students develop skills in understanding construction principles, assembling electrical circuits, plumbing applications, ductwork, and equipment maintenance. The interior design component teaches them to create functional, aesthetically pleasing spaces while selecting appropriate, high-quality materials. Overall, this comprehensive curriculum prepares students for careers in architecture, construction management, and related fields.
