Course Descriptions
Specialized English course for students with limited English exposure. Emphasis on developing basic English communication skills and cultural understanding. Course covers essential vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation needed for daily life and academic success.
Advanced course for English language learners focusing on academic language skills. Students develop advanced reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities needed for success in content area classes. Emphasis on academic vocabulary, research skills, and analytical writing.
An introduction to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. Students develop basic communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Spanish.
Building on Spanish I foundations, students expand their communication abilities with more complex grammar structures and vocabulary.
Advanced level course emphasizing fluid conversation and comprehensive grammar usage. Students engage with authentic materials including literature, news, and media from Spanish-speaking countries.
Highest level Spanish course focusing on advanced communication skills and cultural competency. Students engage in complex discussions, read literature in its original form, and write extensive compositions.
Introduction to French language and cultures. Students develop basic skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing French
Continuation of French I with expanded vocabulary and grammar concepts. Students develop ability to communicate in past and future tenses, express opinions, and discuss a wider range of topics.
Advanced course emphasizing comprehensive language skills and cultural understanding. Students work with authentic French materials including literature, media, and current events.
Advanced-level French course focusing on sophisticated communication skills and cultural competency. Students engage with complex literary texts, write extensive compositions, and participate in in-depth discussions in French.
Introduction to American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf culture. Students learn basic vocabulary, grammar, and syntax of ASL, including fingerspelling and numbers. Course includes study of Deaf culture, history, and community. Students develop skills in expressive and receptive signing through interactive activities and cultural experiences.
