JROTC
The Titan Battalion Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps Leadership, Education, and Training (LET)
The Titan Battalion focuses on developing and applying for various leadership roles by providing students with practical lessons that will assist them in becoming active and engaged learners and leaders. The program promotes academic achievement and development by focusing on skills that will follow them throughout life.
Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) is the largest youth program with an accredited curriculum in high school. It serves as a character and leadership development program for our nation's high school students. High school students enrolled in JROTC are "Cadets." The program's focus is reflected in its mission statement, "To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens."
It prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting high school graduation, providing instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and nation.
This program's design focuses on the development of better citizens by building skills in leadership, personal growth and behaviors, citizenship, decision-making, health and fitness, first aid, team building, service learning, and geography, all within a student-centered learning environment. The JROTC program is a cooperative effort between the Army and the Lorain City Schools.

Course Descriptions
The Emerging Leader course provides students a pathway for success with the opportunity to develop skills and help young people become better citizens.
This course is designed for Cadets as a skills-based introduction to the initial stages of Cadets training to include the Army Service Uniform (ASU) wear and appearance as a Cadet.
The second year of Leadership Education and Training introduces several skills-based units: Fitness and Wellness, First Aid, Cadet Challenge, Techniques of Communication, Leadership Development, Leadership Lab, Map Reading, Your American Citizenship, Career Opportunities, Military History, and Role of the U.S. Army.
This course provides an in-depth skills-based opportunity for the understanding and application of Army-wide uniformity in the conduct of training. Cadets develop a sense in the application of Army-wide methods of instructing and teaching techniques.
The third year of Leadership Education and Training provides additional leadership scenarios. Students will apply content learned through the Pathways for Success course to revisit their 5-year action plan. Cadets will refine and restate their Personal Mission Statement.
The Academic Odyssey goal is to encourage high-achieving Cadets to showcase and build academic success by expanding their knowledge. Cadets at this level can acquire battalion staff positions and responsibilities and help integrate improvements in the local JROTC program and community.
The fourth-year Cadets are responsible for the daily Cadet Battalion operation and administration and services in commanders and staff officers' roles. They act as assistant instructors in some subject areas for other leadership classes.
This course affords Cadets with the desire for an opportunity to study historical events on the ground that shaped our Nation. This course offers exciting discussions and capstone projects.
