African-American Literature consists of a rich tradition. It is a rare literary study where you can begin at the actual very first novel written by someone that begins a literary movement. This class will study and explore the novels that share the African-American experience as told through the written word.
This course will look at many of the classical stories that are the foundation for the English Language and English Literature as a whole. The course will take you from the earliest literature to modern-day literature from Britain and its surrounding areas.

This course is for students identified as limited in the use of the English language. The course will help to strengthen survival English skills and may be required for some students. Focus heavily emphasizes oral/conversational practice and basic grammar skills.

This class allows students to study the ways that literary devices influence directors and actors and the films they produce. Students will develop an understanding of the basic organizational techniques of storytelling and analyze the use of literary devices such as character, setting, and theme.
This course will empower students to explore the latest stories and novels addressing the challenges urban high school students encounter today. Through the examination of the experiences of contemporary characters, participants will enhance their discussion, writing, and critical thinking skills.
This course exposes students to an understanding and appreciation of culture, cultural values, and perspectives by reading, writing, and discussing works of fiction and non-fiction written by authors of a variety of races, ethnicities, classes, backgrounds, genders, and orientations.
This class will teach the fundamentals of recognizing and writing news interview techniques, peer editing, proofreading, page design, headline development, and publishing software usage.
